Stone: The stone with its inscription at a crossroads is an often-occurring motif in the folk tales. The inscription varies slightly, and the episode following the choice does too, but the basic elements are constant: three choices, one road dangerous for the hero, one for his horse, and a third choice that might involve a woman, or danger for both the hero and his horse.
