Blessing: A parent's blessing is of great importance in folklore. However, heroes often have to extort a blessing from his parents. In that case, the hero usually says: "If you give me your blessing, I will go, and if you don't give me your blessing, I will go." In Russian folklore, the parents do usually bless their child, but where the blessing is refused, the hero often perishes.
